Caring for hand-knit baby clothes

Caring for hand-knit baby clothes

There’s something special about a hand-knit piece — the softness, the detail, the knowledge that every stitch was made with care. With a little gentle attention, these treasures can last through more than one little one and become true keepsakes.

Washing, gently

Our pieces are made with soft, washable baby yarn, so you don’t need to worry about hand-washing everything. A gentle machine cycle in cool water, ideally inside a mesh laundry bag, keeps them protected. Use a mild, baby-safe detergent and skip the fabric softener.

Lay flat to dry — it’s the single best thing you can do to keep a knit’s shape.

Drying & shaping

Avoid the tumble dryer, which can shrink and stress the fibres. Instead, gently press out excess water (never wring), then lay the piece flat on a towel, easing it back into shape.

Storing between seasons

Fold rather than hang, so the shoulders don’t stretch. Keep pieces somewhere cool and dry, and tuck in a little cedar or lavender to keep them fresh until the next tiny arrival.
